I am a qualified counsellor, and registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (reg no 389005). I have extensive experience in working in different environments. I have counselled students in University and high school settings. So, I have helped students on matters such as identity, anxiety, gender identification, bullying, and suicidal ideation.
I also have much experience in being with, and helping adults through major life matters such as end-of-life counselling, family disputes, self-loathing (and therefore, acceptance), addiction, and ADHD.
I work on a predominantly person-centred basis. This means that I will strive to create a connection in our therapeutic relationship where you feel it is safe to approach subjects that are causing you problems.
It is then that I hope new connection and insights can be formed within you, so you can then feel you can face the world with new purpose.
A lot of the time this can involve facing painful subjects. However, as promised, I will fight to create a space for you where we can face these together.
I can also incorporate elements of Cognitive Behavioural Theory (CBT) into my practise when this is necessary. CBT is a more guided form of therapy which focuses on thoughts, emotions, and behaviours in particular situations, and the effect that changing them can have on you.
Being a counsellor in Keighley means that I have access to many hiking trails up in the moors above the valleys of West Yorkshire. That picture above is of Nab Hill in Oxenhope, West Yorkshire. It is one of my favourite walks. I love walking as it gives me space to process life. I hope I can offer you a similar space.
My hourly session rates start at £50.00 per hour for in-person counselling. Concessions for online counselling and for students. I am a counsellor based in Keighley, Brighouse and Bingley, W. Yorks, and I can offer a free introductory session, plus discounted rates for student counsellors.
